In a rare television interview, Portnow opens up about one of the most challenging years of his life, following his controversial remark that women should “step up,” in response to last year’s social media criticisms about the Grammy Awards being dominated by males artists.
The industry backlash led to a groundbreaking task force on inclusion and an announcement that after 17 years at the helm of the Recording Academy, Portnow plans to retire this summer.
