LOS ANGELES — This week on LA Stories, Giselle Fernandez meets up with Los Angeles yoga master Guru Singh. The third-generation yogi is revered worldwide for his abilities to uplift the spirit and guide conscious living. Even the Dalai Lama and life coach Tony Robbins call upon Guru Singh to bring his leadership to their global platforms.

But Guru Singh wasn’t always on this enlightened path. In the 60s, he was known as Gerry Pond, a hard core rock ‘n roller — performing and hanging with Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and The Grateful Dead, until a near death experience redirected his journey and transformed his life.

Today, Guru Singh’s books, music mantras, sound therapies, and meditations are used and downloaded around the world. He explains to Giselle what the word “Guru” really means… plus, he reveals the spiritual reason he wears a turban and he shares how sound vibrations and music improve our all-around well-being.

Guru Singh calls Yoga West in West Hollywood his home base for connecting directly with Angelenos who are inspired to practice an awakened life.
