In this episode of “LA Stories with Giselle Fernandez,” SoCal native Debbie Pearl shares her inspiring journey of rescuing disabled and abused dogs.
Pearl’s story began with Fast Eddie, a paralyzed dog found abandoned on the streets.
Where others saw a lost cause, Pearl saw potential for healing. Through rehabilitation and prosthetics, she restores not only their mobility but their joy.
“Their message is, if you believe anything is possible, and if you never give up hope, you can do it,” says Pearl, highlighting the resilience of the dogs.
Pearl’s work extends beyond rehabilitation. She has created a healing space at the Unstoppable Ranch in Huntington Beach, where people with disabilities can connect with these remarkable dogs.
The bond between them is transformative, proving that love and empathy can break barriers.
“They’re always surprised when they see how fast or how athletic some of these dogs are in their wheelchairs,” Pearl reflects, showcasing how these dogs defy expectations and inspire those around them.
Through her efforts, Debbie emphasizes the importance of compassion and kindness in a world where cruelty often prevails.
Her work aims to raise awareness and bring about a change for animals and humans alike.
“There’s no excuse for cruelty or abuse at all,” she says, reminding us all to be better stewards of the world around us.
