LA Stories with Giselle Fernandez profiles Pastor Fred Morris.
At 86-years-old, he’s out of retirement as an outspoken champion for children. As a man of God, Pastor Morris says he is obliged to help the most marginalized and in need.
As many as six thousand refugee children are reportedly living in the shadows in Los Angeles; seeking refuge from gang violence, civil war, and extreme poverty in their home countries.
Morris’ non-profit, the San Fernando Valley Refugee Center, is actively helping these desperate children secure legal asylum, medical care, education, and a safe future in America.
Pastor Morris reveals that he knows first-hand the terror many in his congregation have fled. He opens up to Giselle, sharing the horrors of his own kidnapping and torture in Brazil. He says his persecution gives him deep empathy for those fleeing violence in their home countries.
Morris also shares with LA Stories that the antidote to these challenging times in America is a greater focus on love.
