LA Stories with Giselle Fernandez profiles local muralist Levi Ponce.
Ponce turns the defaced city walls of Pacoima, his beloved hometown, into works of art for both locals and visitors to enjoy.
When his community took notice of his work, people turned up to help out in any way they could.
Together, they built the “Mural Mile” – a three mile stretch of Van Nuys Boulevard that has been turned into a public art collection.
It’s Ponce’s goal to shine a light on the people of Pacoima and make them proud to live there. He gets his love of painting from his immigrant father and hopes to pass this love on to his own son.
Levi Ponce seeks to blur cultural lines through his art – not just here in Los Angeles, but all around the globe.
